Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not answered below, please call 1-866-470-6897.
What is MCT WiFi on Wheels?
WiFi on Wheels is the name of MCT’s wireless Internet service that is available for MCT Express passengers with a
laptop or handheld device that allows them to surf the web during their commute.
Is there a cost to use MCT’s WiFi Internet?
No, this is a free service and there is no registration. The only requirement is that you
accept the “Terms of Internet Service Use”.
How old do I have to be to use MCT’s WiFi Internet?
Only passengers who are 18 years of age or older are authorized to use this service.
How do I identify which MCT bus has wireless Internet capabilities?
Currently, only MCT 40-foot buses (the longest of our vehicles) are equipped with WiFi.
MCT may expand the program to the rest of the fleet in the future.
Is the WiFi network encrypted or does it require a password for access?
No, MCT’s WiFi uses an unsecured network. However, you must be on board a bus in order for your wireless
device to “see” the network.
How secure is MCT’s WiFi network?
MCT’s wireless network is as secure as any other public open wireless network. The actual security of
the connection will depend on the rider’s computer and the application he or she uses on their computer.
Use the same precautions while on MCT’s WiFi network that you would exhibit while using any other open
wireless network.
Why can’t I connect?
There are many reasons why you may be unable to connect to MCT’s WiFi. First, reboot your computer and carefully
follow the instructions above. For technical support, please call 1-866-470-6897.
My device says it is connected to the WiFi network. Why can’t I browse/check e-mail/use my VPN?
You must accept the “Terms of Internet Service Use” before you will be allowed access to the Internet.
Open a browser window to the MCT splash page, then click “GO” to accept the terms before attempting
to access the Internet.
I was connected and everything was working; why did the Internet suddenly stop working?
Due to normal vehicle movement, signal strengths may vary and you may experience occasional loss of service.
Wait a few minutes and try again.
Does MCT’s WiFi Internet use a web filter?
Yes, MCT’s service providers use content-filtering software that attempts to restrict access to offensive
sites; however, no content-filtering software is completely effective. Please use the same precautions you
would use accessing any public wireless network.
