MCT ANNOUNCES MAY 6 SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS
MCT’s First Quarter 2012 Ridership Up by 20% over First Quarter 2011
GRANITE CITY, ILL., APRIL 23, 2012. . . With 2012 first quarter ridership increasing by 20% over first quarter 2011, Madison County Transit (MCT) is
making service improvements to accommodate this growing demand – a likely result of rising fuel costs. MCT route and schedule changes will take effect on
Sunday, May 6, 2012. Highlights of the service change include the following:
- On the #14X Highland Express, MCT will add a trip in the afternoon from Downtown St. Louis to Highland, Troy and St. Jacob, creating 10-minute frequency
from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. between St. Louis and Highland. MCT will also eliminate the low performing 2:55 p.m. trip from Emerson Park.
-
On the #16X Edwardsville – Glen Carbon Express, MCT will add two morning trips to St. Louis originating at the Glen Carbon Park & Ride Lot at 6:01 a.m.
and 7:18 a.m. and also serving the Gateway Center in Collinsville. MCT will also add an afternoon trip from St. Louis to Collinsville, Glen Carbon and
Edwardsville and will eliminate the low performing 3:25 p.m. trip from Emerson Park.
- The #18 Collinsville Regional will be re-routed to travel on Collinsville Road to the 5th & Missouri MetroLink Station. The new routing introduces 30-minute service
between Collinsville and MetroLink for residents along Collinsville Road in Collinsville, Fairmont City and East St. Louis. The #18 trip to and from St. Louis will
continue to travel on I-55/70 after Black Lane.
- For safety and schedule efficiency, MCT will implement designated stops on the routes of the #2 Granite City Shuttle and the #4 Madison – Edwardsville and will
only pick up and drop off at MCT bus stop signs along the route. (A complete list of stops is available at www.mct.org.)
- All four trips on the #7 Alton – Edwardsville that travel to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will be re-routed to serve offices, classroom buildings and
support facilities in SIUE’s University Park.
- Schedule adjustments will also be made to the #5 Tri-City Regional, and #12X Bethalto Express
For specific schedule details, new timetables dated “May 6, 2012” are posted online at www.mct.org and will be available at MCT Stations, on MCT buses and at locations
throughout Madison County. For details about MCT services, please call (618) 931-7433, e-mail info@mct.org or visit www.mct.org.
