MCT TO SELL STUDENT PASSES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR
New MCT Student Monthly Passes Go on Sale September 15 for $15 a piece

GRANITE CITY, ILL., September 11, 2009 . . . Beginning Tuesday, September 15, Madison County students will have the opportunity to purchase a new type of bus pass, the Madison County Transit (MCT) Student Monthly Pass, allowing them to ride MCT during the school year for just $15 a month. The new MCT Student Pass will be accepted beginning October 1, and will go on sale Tuesday, September 15, providing unlimited rides for the entire calendar month to students who attend a grade school, middle school, high school, or are enrolled in GED classes. The passes will be sold from September through May.

“MCT frequently receives comments from parents indicating that there’s a need for a pre-paid, monthly student pass for the school year,” said MCT Managing Director Jerry Kane. “At a time when the nation is attempting to reduce its dependence on foreign oil and encourage transit use, this new pass provides a sustainable and affordable transportation option for thousands of Madison County students.”

Purchasing the New MCT Student Monthly Pass: The new Passes can be purchased in the following ways:

On-Line at www.mct.org, with a credit or debit card.
In Person at the MCT Base of Operations in Granite City with a check, cash, credit or debit card.
By Mail with a check made payable to Agency for Community Transit for $15 sent to: Madison County Transit, c/o Student Monthly Pass, One Transit Way, PO Box 7500, Granite City, IL 62040.

Individuals purchasing the pass by mail or in person, should also include the student’s name, school, grade and name of a parent or guardian. The new Student Passes will be valid on MCT Shuttle, MCT Cross County and MCT Regional bus routes. The equivalent fare media, the MCT Local Monthly Pass, is available for adults at $40 a month. Madison County Transit (MCT) enhances the mobility of the St. Louis region by providing multi-modal transportation services. MCT operates a fixed-route bus service, connecting to MetroLink; express weekday commuter service directly to and from downtown St. Louis; and seasonal express service to the Rams games and the Muny.
