MCT RE-ROUTES HIGHLAND TO SIUE BUS FOR FASTER SERVICE
New Route Takes Effect Monday, August 16, 2010

GRANITE CITY, ILL., AUGUST 10, 2010 . . . . Madison County Transit (MCT) bus service on the #14 Highland- Edwardsville from Highland, St. Jacob and Troy to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) will soon be the fastest and most cost effective way to reach the campus. Beginning Mon., August 16, the #14 route will pick up at park & ride lots on US 40 in Highland, St. Jacob and Troy and will then take interstates and highways all the way to IL-157 and the SIUE campus. The new routing will shave at least 17 minutes off of the current one-way trip. The #14 Highland-Edwardsville currently picks up on US 40 and then takes the scenic route through Maryville, Glen Carbon and Edwardsville, traveling through neighborhoods, and making a stop in Downtown Edwardsville, for a total of 50 minutes, before reaching the SIUE campus. The new #14 will only take 33 minutes from Highland to the SIUE campus.

“On board surveys showed that a vast majority of the passengers were riding from Highland and St. Jacob all the way to SIUE,” said MCT Director of Marketing & Planning SJ Morrison. “The new #14 route is now competitive with your car. By traveling on interstates and highways from Troy all the way to SIUE, MCT will get you there as fast you can drive.”

New schedules and maps dated ‘August 15, 2010’ are available on any MCT bus, at MCT transfer stations, at distribution locations throughout Madison County, or on-line at www.mct.org. For more information or assistance, please contact MCT at (618) 931-7433, Option #3.
